Learn to machine sew - and make a simple tote bag
Never sewn before?
Or maybe you did a very long time ago, and you need a back-to-basics refresher?
Learn machine threading, and straight and zigzag stitching. And practise these skills by making a simple tote bag to take home.
Sewing machines and all materials provided.
We love to encourage reuse and repurposing, so if you have some fabric you’d like to use – or reuse! – you’re welcome to bring it along. Perhaps a pillowcase you could use for lining, or a sheet (that's not worn thin). You only need about 1m x 0.5m – bring along what you have and we'll see if it will work 😀
Facilitator Sam Pilling is a passionate home sewer and sewing teacher who is known for her upcycling and textile waste reduction efforts. You can see her work on Instagram @seamlesslyxsam
If you can't manage the cost at the moment, please contact Jo at emaildhrh@gmail.com, we have some free tickets available.
Supported by the City of Darebin Community Grants Program.
