Learn how to darn and needle-felt your woollen clothes with Zero Waste Victoria and Tamara Russell from Karhina Textiles. This workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced stitchers - 10 years and up. Tools and materials provided.

During this FREE workshop, you will learn:

  • How to prepare your woollen clothes for repair
  • Different types of darning and the art of needle-felting
  • How to add colour to your woollens for a visible repair
  • How to colour match wool to repair as invisibly as possible

What to bring: 

  • Your woollen clothes that have stains, rips or holes that need repairing
  • Fabric, thread or embellishments you’d like to use (optional)

What you’ll get:

  • Tools and materials to use during the workshop, including darning mushrooms, needle felting tools, yarn and wool roving
  • New skills to mend and embellish your clothes
  • Specific advice and guidance on how to mend the clothes you bring along
  • A starter Needle Felting Kit to take home


Facilitator

Tamara Russell is a Textile Artist specialising in free machine embroidery, hand stitching and mending based in Melbourne. She has been making her clothes and mending since a teenager.  Loving to personalise her wardrobe with visible mending, embroidery and embellishment.
