Learning & Teaching Seminar - Putting the “F” back into Learning (and Teaching) F is for FUN
Event description
Dear Colleagues, you are invited to the next Law Learning and Teaching Seminar.
Presented by Law Lecturer Rod Smith
Title: Putting the “F” back into Learning (and Teaching) F is for FUN
Abstract: In this session, Rod will look at reinvigorating the classroom and enthusiasm in the students who are toward the end of their degree.
These students are about to graduate, have studied for a long time and have done many similar styles of classes and assignments. They are tired, bored and now edgy for the future.
It is TIME to bring the FUN back into the classroom. Fun while learning, giving the students the opportunity of a voice and preparing them well for their next chapter in life. We will look at how to help them learn, stay a step ahead of others and tap into their passions for study and learning again. Giving them a reason to smile as they leave UTS for their chosen pathways in the future.
Bio: I practiced law as a solicitor for 23 years and then came back to education in 2013. Since then I have completed three PG degrees and have taught at numerous universities as a casual, teaching 29 different subjects/topics. I have been full-time teaching-focused academic at UTS for two years. And I love my home at UTS. I ride bikes through puddles and on gravel, play musical instruments and swim across channels.
