Event description

World Labyrinth Day is celebrated on the first Saturday in May every year. Leading up to this year's celebration, Tash will be hosting a hands-on labyrinth history lesson!

And no, we don't mean the David Bowie movie, but rather the the beautiful, turning paths (or elaborate and deceptive designs) from the Ancient Greek. As well as learning about their history, uses, and examples around the world, Tash will bring in items from her extensive collection of handheld labyrinths (wooden, sewn, collaged) and other labyrinth bits and pieces to explore while we learn about all things labyrinths.

So whether you're already a labyrinth fan and aficionado, or completely new to this fascinating phenomenon, this conversational class invites you to join in, have a cuppa, and learn all about labyrinths! Tash will even bake labyrinth biscuits (gluten and dairy free).

This class might even inspire you to privately take part in this year's World Labyrinth Day, when folk all over the world walk labyrinths at 1:00pm in their time zones for a sense of peace and alignment.

What will we cover?

In this hands-on history class we will learn about:

  • The earliest known labyrinths
  • Different types of labyrinths that are recognised
  • Labyrinths from around the world
  • Local labyrinths you can visit
  • The various ways labyrinths are used today - including as a meditation tool. Tash will bring in a collection of hand-held labyrinths
  • World Labyrinth Day and how to participate

    Who will be teaching?

Natasha (she/her) is a play specialist and holistic counsellor with an art background. She loves exploring the creative and expressive arts for wellbeing. Over the years she has walked, drawn and sewn many labyrinths, and is now a trained labyrinth facilitator. If you catch her in a labyrinth, she is usually barefoot. You can check out her website here.
