Have you ever held a leather item and thought “I wish I could make something like this”? Well now you can……
Join us and get the lowdown on leather and learn the core techniques to easily make your own custom leather goods. Plus how and where to source the supplies needed, along with heaps of tips & tricks!
Held in a lush setting in the surrounding bush lands of Humpty Doo, this is a place where you can tap into your innate creative ability and garner the self-sustaining magic of working with leather.
*Please note that this is more than a social activity, this workshop is designed to set you up for ongoing creative ventures, whether that is for personal satisfaction or income focussed gain. How you choose to approach it is entirely up to you.
Ongoing support and advice is also offered freely.
What You Can Gain:
Presented by a qualified Leather Craftsman with over 30 years experience, this hands-on Leathercraft Workshop will upskill you in a wide range of traditional and modern leathercraft techniques.
You will gain a great deal of knowledge about leather and how to work with the different types of leather, plus explore a variety of techniques as you hand-craft your own wallet or purse that will last the tests of time.
The skills you acquire on the day can enable you to continue creating a variety of leather projects in your own home.
What’s Covered:
~ A brief run down of the history and tanning of leather
~ How to work with different types of leather such as veg-tanned and chrome-tanned leather
~ The core skills needed, followed by guided assistance with the techniques, such as:
Decorative Stamping, Embossing and Etching
Moulding leather
Hand-stitching
Lacing and Braiding
Edge bevelling and burnishing
Colouring & Sealing
Setting Press-studs, Rivets, etc.
All this as you handcraft your own wallet or purse to take home.
*All tools and materials are supplied on the day.
*Projects are pre-cut, ready to create with.
Starter Kits will be available for purchase, which include the tools needed for most ongoing projects.
You just need to bring along your inquisitive self, and maybe a notepad if you want to jot down the finer details.
It’s also wise not to wear your best clothes…….although it’s not particularly messy, there is the potential for spills and splashes which may not easily come out of clothing.
Refreshments and snacks are provided (vegetarian) but feel free to bring your own dietary requirements. A stove/oven is available.
No prior skills necessary!
For ages 15+ (younger teens are welcome if accompanied by an adult)
*Parents assisting a minor on the one project, need only pay the cost for one.
*Numbers are limited to ensure optimal assistance for all involved.
