A free, light-hearted, folky, acoustic concert/cabaret . . .

Loosely Woven is a community based group of people who put together and perform two to three shows each year. Loosely Woven is the main reason Gial and I bought the former Allambie Heights Uniting Church and established Humph Hall in the first place.

'Leaving the land' is the second 'brand new' concert for 2026. Due to time constraints there will, once again, be only 8 public performances including only one here at Humph Hall. See the Loosely Woven web site for details of the other performances.

The concert will feature 22 instrumentalists and singers.

There will be a number of well known songs including:

(You've got) Personality (Jerry Lee Lewis)
Lovin' Arms
Black Velvet Band
Walking in the air (Aled Jones)
Goody Goody (Ella Fitzgerald)
Circle of life (from 'The Lion King')
Ain't a mountain high enough (Diana Ross)
You don't own me
All I ask of you (Phantom of the Opera)
Jolene (Dolly Parton)

Some lesser known songs:

The hours creep on apace (HMS Pinafore)
Hey Rain!
Hold on to me babe
Cry for Ospreys (Chinese song)
Three-Legged Man (ridiculous Steve Goodman song)
Walls & Windows (powerful Judy Small song)
The Mary Ellen Carter (extremely lively song!)
Leaving the land (beautiful, touching Eric Bogle song)

An original song:

Birmingham Choral Finale (from a musical written by Robert Salisbury)

And even a couple of Christmas songs!

Go Santa Go! (The Wiggles)
A child is born

Instruments this time will include violins, cello, flute, saxophone, whistle, harmonium, melodica, harp, guitars, keyboard and percussion.
