Event description

2 LU HSW

Brought to you by AIA Central Valley's Design Narrative Team and AIA Northern Nevada.

Join us for an engaging afternoon with Greg Faulkner, FAIA, founder and principal of Faulkner Architects, as he presents a lecture and leads a guided tour of a distinctive residence designed by his firm. This event offers a rare opportunity to experience a completed home through the architect’s eyes—exploring the design intent, material choices, and site-specific strategies that shaped its final form.

Raised in the industrial Midwest, Faulkner’s early environment—defined by steel mills and rail lines—informs his sensitivity to place, materiality, and contrast. These themes carry through his work at Faulkner Architects, a firm widely recognized for its precise detailing, deep connection to landscape, and thoughtful responses to climate and context, particularly in the Sierra Nevada region.

The featured residence exemplifies the firm’s signature approach: modernist rigor tempered by raw natural beauty, creating spaces that are both grounded and transcendent.

Don’t miss this unique chance to hear directly from Greg Faulkner, FAIA, and experience how architecture can foster powerful relationships between people, place, and design.

Ideal for architects, students, and design enthusiasts interested in residential architecture and immersive learning.

This event will be in a hybrid format. Join us in-person for the full experience or virtually via Zoom to tune in to the lecture.

For virtual attendees, an email will go out one day prior to the event containing the Zoom information.

Please note that attendees are responsible for getting from Moody's to the home tour site; we've allowed 30 minutes but it is about a 15 minute drive.
