Led Zep and David Bowie Bike Party
Event description
Grab friends or make some new ones by rolling with us to celebrate two British acts who changed rock music. Led Zeppellin released their debut studio album on 13 Jan 1969, while David Bowie died on this day in 2016.
You choose the songs for our playlist, which we'll blast from the back of our cargo bike as we circle Lake Burley Griffin.
Cycling is a social activity, so grab a freedom machine with brakes, find some lights, and come outside. We ride slowly, at a pace you can talk normally. We welcome all people on all cycles and scooters.
For an idea about what to expect, check out this video.
We'll meet outside the Street Theatre, then ride a clockwise loop around the Central Basin of Lake BG, and stop for a meal/drink at The Jetty. We return to the Street Theatre via the National Gallery's Ouroboros sculpture by Lindy Lee, then take Commonwealth Ave Bridge, and usually Sullivans Creek and ANU campus.
This ride is mostly flat, except for the approaches to the Kings Ave and Commonwealth Ave Bridges. There are toilets along the route, eg near the National Carillon, and the international flag court.
