LEF Presents: Low-End Lessons - Session 1 w/ Leo Cap
Event description
Low-End Lessons is a new workshop series focused on the creative process behind bass-heavy music. For our first session, we’re proud to host Leo Cap, an international artist known for his deep, emotive productions.
Leo Cap (RU), also known as Black Barrel, has released music on respected labels such as Deep, Dark & Dangerous (including his debut album Underground Business), Artikal Music UK, Navy Cut, and Unchained Asia. Under his Black Barrel alias, he’s also made waves in the drum & bass scene with releases on Metalheadz, Dispatch Recordings, CIA Records, and Spearhead Records.
Titled "Writing with Emotion", this session is designed for bass music producers who want to shift focus away from overthinking the tools and reconnect with the feeling behind the sound. Leo will walk us through a live track-building demonstration, showing how he approaches sound design, workflow, and arrangement to channel emotion into his music.
The session is not DAW-specific — the creative skills shared are transferrable across all production platforms. It’s not necessary to bring a computer, but you're welcome to bring one if you'd like to take notes or try following along with the process.
The workshop will wrap with a Q&A where attendees can dive deeper into Leo’s approach and techniques.
Hosted at Studio 10 in Rikota Studios, Marrickville — a creative, light-filled space built to support community learning and artistic projects — this will be an intimate workshop with limited capacity.
🎥 The session will be filmed and made available for attendees to review after the event.
🎟️ Spots are limited — secure yours early and don’t miss this unique chance to learn from one of the most compelling names in underground bass music.
