Legends of the Surf celebrates the Gold Coast's rich surfing culture and the illustrious talent from our local surfing community that has shaped it in through a night of art, music and film, followed by exhibition in Coolangatta.

Please note that the opening night live auction will be reserved for the sales of five original pyrographic portraits of Michael Peterson, Mick Fanning, Wayne Rabbit Bartholomew, Joel Parkinson and Stephanie Gilmore.

All ten other exhibited artworks of our Gold Coast surfing legends will be up for online auction during the exhibition ending 7 July at 12.00pm AEST via: fundraiser.support/legendsofthesurf


The opening event will be MC'd by surf legend Andrew McKinnon and feature:

  • an opening address by World Champion Wayne Rabbit Bartholomew
  • a series of pyrographic portraits of surf legends by Gold Coast artist Emily Rose Hastie to be auctioned for charity;
  • hair-raising performance by local band Scrappz;
  • never-before-seen footage of '75 Burleigh swell from father of surf photography Dick Hoole;
  • recent footage from Mr.Clips;
  • a raffle for customised surfboard donated by The Surfboard Warehouse;
  • various lucky door prizes

    This is going to be an epic evening not to be missed!

All profits raised from ticket sales and 60% of the Legends of the Surf exhibition sales proudly support the important coastal conservation work of Surfrider Foundation Gold Coast and Gold Coast World Surf Reserve, and the empowering mental health education and stigma reduction work of LIVIN. 

Legends of the Surf event launches at 6pm on Saturday 26th June at Coolangatta Sands Hotel.

The art exhibition presented by Emily Rose Hastie will be open between Saturday 26 June - Wednesday 7 July at The Art Space on 19 McLean St, Coolangatta (free entry).
