Legends and Lanterns:Â Lifts the Spirits This Lunar New Year
As part of the Year of the Dragon celebrations, join internationally renowned Chinese-Australian Cellist Li-Wei Qin and acclaimed violinist Harmonnia Junus, and the Odyssey Symphony Orchestra as they perform Legends & Lanterns, a musical fusion of East meets West at The Sydney Town Hall, 14th  February 2024.
Under the baton of Hong Kong-born Briton and Musical Director of Australian Ballet Jonathon Lo, the Legends & Lanterns program showcases much-loved pieces from the classical Chinese repertoire including the Spring Festival Overture, Galloping Horses, as well as a special abridged version of Butterfly Lovers’ Violin Concerto for Violin and Erhu, featuring Harmonnia Junus and Fuhua Li. These pieces will be complemented by a selection of Western works including masterpieces by Brahms and Strauss and featuring the dynamic talent of Li-Wei playing Saint Saen’s Cello Concerto, it is the ultimate show of supreme skill and orchestra artistry.
Legend & Lanterns will lift the spirits as it explores the richness of Eastern and Western musical cultures through energetic large-scale orchestral works, along with exquisite moments of interpretation in this joyful live experience.
