RELICS: A New World Rises is an exciting new touring exhibition premiering at the South Australian Museum in 2023 by artists/creators Alex Towler and Jackson Harvey, winners of Channel 9 LEGO® Masters in 2020.

RELICS: A New World Rises is a collection of old and forgotten objects housing miniature worlds built of LEGO®. Each display weaves intricate LEGO® constructions into unique objects to evoke a sense of nostalgia and ignite fresh curiosity, inviting audiences young and old to explore the world within a world.

Within each relic, the LEGO® civilisation has adapted to the distinctive character of the artefact it inhabits. A marauding band of inventors have reverse-engineered a grandfather clock to build a time machine. A cryonics facility, nestled inside a vintage refrigerator, maintains mini figures in a frosty stasis to keep them safe from the effects of an overheated climate. In a retro arcade, airlocks and elevators connect a series of gaming machines together to form a futuristic space port. Even more curious worlds can be discovered, each with their own strange stories to tell!

• Please note, all online ticket sales close 2 hours prior to the beginning of the session. To avoid disappointment, please book in early.

Important Information about Extended Sessions During Illuminate City Lights

• During Illuminate City Lights (7 July 2023 - 23 July 2023), RELICS will be open for extended hours on Wednesdays*, Thursdays*, Fridays and Saturdays. 
  
• Session times are 5:00PM - 6:00PM on Wednesdays* and Thursdays*, and 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. 
• Tickets are available online through Humanitix or at the front desk. Tickets available for purchase at the front desk on the day may be limited due to demand. To avoid disappointment and secure your preferred session time, please pre-book tickets via Humanitix.
• Tickets available at the front desk during the Extended Sessions are available as Card Only purchases. There will be no facility for cash transactions during extended hours. 
• *Please note the Museum is only open for the RELICS: A New World Rises exhibition on the ground floor on Wednesdays and Thursdays. No other exhibits or floors will be open to the public. 
• On Fridays and Saturdays, the whole Museum will be open to the public for the duration of the extended opening hours. 
• RELICS: A New World Rises exhibition is inside the Museum. If Illuminate City Lights is cancelled or operating on reduced hours, the exhibition will remain open. No exhibition ticket refunds will be offered due to inclement weather or wider cancellation of Illuminate programming.
