About: ANU is delighted to welcome Professor Albert Sickmann, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and delegation to the Australian National University on Thursday 8 February 2024. This event will provide attendees with an overview of the work of the Leibniz Association and valuable insight into the research landscape in Germany and opportunities for collaboration across their 96 independent research institutions. .
Professor Sickmann’s address will be followed by a Q&A session with Dr Almuth Wietholtz-Eisert from the Office of the President, Leibniz Association. This session is suitable for research higher degree students, post-doctoral students, early career researchers, and established academics with an interest in collaborating with German institutions and researchers.
Following the Q&A, the audience will hear from international experts on intellectual property sharing; research security in Australia; and information security in diverse and complex research organisations.
Further Information: The Leibniz Association connects 96 independent research institutions that range in focus from natural, engineering and environmental sciences to economics, spatial and social sciences and the humanities.
Leibniz institutions collaborate intensively with universities, as well as with industry and other partners in Germany and abroad. The Leibniz Institutes employ around 20,500 people, including 11,500 researchers, and has a budget of €2 billion.
