Lemon Squeezers & Walking Sticks: Treasures of the Featherston Heritage Museum

Presented as part of Te Waiwhakaata Wairarapa Film Festival's Spring Season 2026, this special event marks the world premiere of Mark Pacey's new short documentary Lemon Squeezers and Walking Sticks: Treasures of the Featherston Heritage Museum, also presented in association with the Featherston Heritage Festival and Wellington Heritage Festival.

The film explores Featherston's unique military history, including its role as home to New Zealand's largest military training camp and its only prisoner of war camp. Through the collections of the Featherston Heritage Museum, the film reveals the stories, objects, and people that have preserved this important local legacy.

Each screening is followed by a talk with filmmaker Mark Pacey, offering insight into the making of the film and the history behind the museum’s collection.

This is a world premiere screening, and following its launch the film will be gifted to the Featherston Heritage Museum, becoming part of the museum’s permanent collection for the community to enjoy.

Screenings and talks will run at 1.00 pm, 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm on Sunday 15 November 2026, with three separate opportunities to attend.

Tickets are $5 per person. An optional donation to the Featherston Heritage Museum is available, with all contributions supporting the preservation and sharing of Featherston’s heritage.
