We laughed and traded stories, and somewhere between the words, something shifted. At a grand table, surrounded by warm company and quiet intrigue, the night felt full of possibility. Maybe it was fate. Maybe it was destiny, perhaps meeting you was always meant to be. But how would you ever know if you didn’t dare to chase it? A spark flickered to life, and suddenly the bond felt timeless, as if I’d known you forever.

And don’t you know, lesbians make the dearest friends. Birds of a feather, building a village of their own. A place to retreat, to grow, to be understood without explanation. Sweet company. Everlasting memories.Introduction

Welcome to Third Rodeo’s Lesbian/Queer Social Gathering & Speed Mating!

A vibrant event designed for you to explore friendship, connection and playfully introduce yourself. Platonic love and friendship should be searched for and celebrated and we're giving people a good chance to find it tonight!

There are limited 60 seats available, so seize the opportunity!

Our goal for 2026 is simple: to continue creating a fun, loving, and inclusive third space where you can be challenged, find community, and build meaningful connections. If you’re new here, Third Rodeo’s name is inspired by the Third Place Theory the idea that true, authentic connections are forged in a third environment outside of home and work. The word "Rodeo" comes from the phrase, "not my first rodeo," symbolising confidence.

The more our community chooks attend our events, the more they feel comfortable in expressing their identity and greeting new people. Your support means the world to us. Third Rodeo raises funds through these events with the dream of opening a permanent third space in Meanjin. We believe we can make it happen.

In the meantime, saddle up and put yourself out there, you never know what fate or destiny has in store. Perhaps tonight is the night you were meant to meet someone special.

Enjoy yourself.

Event Breakdown

We'll greet ya at the door, tick ya name off and give you a name card. You never know who you'll meet.

8.00pm - 9.00pm

★ Name Game: You will be given a card with someone else's name on it. It is your mission to find this person through greeting new people and asking for their names. Note - once you ask for someone's name, you should exchange questions on the back. This creates chatter and encourages everyone to meet. The connections are boundless!

9.00pm - 9.45pm

★ Speed Mating Activity: You can be expected to go on at least 5 friend dates.

- Always introduce your name & pronouns

- Questions are fun and creative! Nothing too serious here!

- Participants progress from one table to the next. Number of mate dates will be determined on how many participants there are. On the night we will determine which direction we will move in. Please notify the host if you have any mobile accessibility requirements so we can assist you.

9.45pm - 11.00pm/closing

★ Large social gathering and social drinks.

★ Call me cards: Keep in contact with each other. Write your details down on one of the 'Call me Cards' displayed around the venue and give it to them. It's a lovely gesture, an old fashion trick that works like charm!

Your lovely host: Anna (She/Her).

Meanjin based film photographer working my way towards a visual arts degree. Chronic sad gay music listener, consuming as much queer media as possible. Currently yearning for summer somewhere in Northern Italy. Always immersing myself in queer joy and making connections wherever I go. I take so much pride in our community, our history and our stories - queer was always here.

Third Rodeo Background

Starting back in 2023!

At Third Rodeo, we believe in creating a warm and inviting space for the Lesbian and Queer community to thrive. Our events are designed specifically for individuals in their 20s and up, providing a dedicated environment where you can make meaningful connections.

Our philosophy is simple. We are your Third home.

Whether you come solo or with friends, or if its your First or Third Rodeo, you’ll find our atmosphere relaxed, charming, and just a little bit cheeky! We’re all about bringing people together, and we’re thrilled to have hosted successful events in Naarm/Melbourne, Gadigal Land/Sydney, Meanjin/Brisbane, Boorloo/Perth and Kaurna Country/Adelaide. Many of our own beautiful queer friendships have blossomed from these gatherings, and we can’t wait for you to experience the same.

We know it can be intimidating to show up alone, but trust us, you’re not alone in that feeling. Everyone is here for the same reason: to connect and find their community. You’ll quickly find that our crowd is warm, friendly, and welcoming!

Thank you for supporting our Lesbian/Non-Binary led small business. Your encouragement means the world to us, and we adore each and every one of you. We can’t wait to see you at our next event!

With love,
TR
