Let's Explore Guatemalan Coffee with Effie's
Event description
Join Market Lane at Effie's for a fun, casual and informative coffee-tasting session, where we’ll taste and discuss Guatemalan coffee.
We love the distinctly different and delicious flavour profiles that we are able to find in Guatemala, which are a result of the incredible range of microclimates that exist across each of the country’s coffee-growing regions. Market Lane has been lucky enough to work with many of the same estates in Guatemala since 2009, and every year we’ve been impressed with the quality and consistency of the coffee produced there.
Guatemala is the eighth biggest exporter of coffee in the world. Coffee accounts for 40% of the national agricultural export revenue, and it is estimated that there are over 125,000 producers of coffee across the country. Many of these are smallholders, who are either working independently or formally affiliated with a cooperative or growers association.

For customers and newcomers, cupping is a great way to compare coffees side by side, and to begin to develop your palate. When coffees are experienced comparatively, their different flavour profiles emerge.Â
This casual tasting session is suitable for anyone who’s interested in learning a little bit more about coffee. We’ll keep it fun and accessible, while introducing some of the techniques we use in the industry to taste coffee professionally and objectively, with the goal of helping you feel more confident and informed the next time you’re ordering a coffee or buying beans.
Included in the ticket price is a 150g bag of Guatemalan coffee to take home!
