M&G NSW presents Let’s Get Digital: Capturing and Editing Podcasts and Oral Histories
Event description
Led by Daniel Browning, this workshop will introduce you to the ethics of audio storytelling and cover hands-on interviewing and recording techniques. Participants will be able to make their own recording and learn simple audio editing. We will supply microphones however it is preferable to bring your own laptop to get the most out of the workshop.
Daniel Browning is a journalist, radio broadcaster, documentary maker, sound artist and writer. Currently, he produces and presents Awaye!, the Indigenous art and culture program on ABC Radio National. Daniel is a descendant of the Bundjalung and Kullilli peoples of far northern New South Wales and south-western Queensland.
Museums & Galleries of NSW (MGNSW) is proud to partner with Broken Hill Library in hosting a training opportunity as part of the Let’s Get Digital project.
Workshop schedule:
9:30am Registration
10am Welcome to country
10.10am – 11.40pm The Ethics of Audio Story Telling
- How to approach interviewing and stories
- Hands on interviewing and recording techniques
11.40am Comfort/Coffee break
12pm –1pm Practical exercise
- Participants will make their own recording in this session using ZOOM recorders
1-2pm LUNCH (provided)
2-3.30pm Audio Mixing and Sharing
- Audio capture and editing training using Hindenburg/ WaveLab
- How to create simple mixes with music and sound effects.
