Let’s Get Digital: Opening more pathways into digital careers
Description
Digital skills matter in every industry, from health and construction to finance, logistics and the creative sector. Yet around 150,000 Australian businesses face digital skills gaps (ACS/Deloitte Digital Pulse 2025), and many people still believe digital careers are only for coders or university graduates.
The reality is that there’s more than one way into a digital career. VET qualifications, traineeships, microcredentials, bootcamps and industry certifications are opening doors for school leavers, career changers and people returning to work. Leading employers are taking notice: Microsoft, Commonwealth Bank, Accenture, IBM, Salesforce and NSW Health are among those committed to hiring 20% of entry-level digital workers from alternative pathways by 2030.
As part of Jobs and Skills Month and the national #LetsGetDigital campaign, this online session explores how employers, government, education and industry can work together to open more pathways into digital work.
In this session, you will:
explore digital careers and emerging opportunities across industries
understand alternative pathways such as VET, traineeships and microcredentials, and what candidates from these pathways bring to a team
learn about the Digital Compact and the 20% Alternative Pathways Pledge
discover how employers can create entry-level opportunities, and how organisations can take part through WorkinTechnology.
