City of Ballarat’s Ageing Well Services

invites Ballarat’s Chinese Australian residents (aged 55 & over) to:

‘Let’s Go! Public Transport in Practice – a day out on public transport’

Participants who have completed the BusAble Program are invited to attend this skill building program.  You will gain practical skills, where together we will:

• Learn how to load money onto a myki card
• Learn to tap your myki card on and off public transport
• Take a train ride from Wendouree Station to Ballarat Central
• Learn about supports available on public transport
• Take a bus ride to Buninyong
• Explore the historic village of Buninyong and enjoy a complementary lunch
• Enjoy a social day out with friends or make some new ones!

Sandwiches will be provided for lunch. Please bring along water and any additional snacks you require for the day.

Date:    Thursday 7th November 2024

Time:    9.30am – 2.30pm

Where: Depart from Wendouree Railway Station, Gillies Street, Wendouree

Want to add a walk to your morning?

A Walking Ambassador and City of Ballarat staff member will lead a walking group from Pipers by the Lake (Lake Wendouree) to the Wendouree Railway Station on the morning of the program.  This will depart at 9am sharp, to arrive in time for the start of the ‘Let’s Go’ Program. This is a 1.2km walk and participants must have good mobility and be able to walk independently.

What to Bring:

• A small backpack or carry bag
• Weather appropriate clothes – raincoat, umbrella, sun hat, (sunscreen) etc
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Mobility Aids – walkers, walking sticks if needed
• Mobile phone (if you have one)
• Water bottle
• Any snacks you need for the day

This day trip will involve lots of walking and embarking and disembarking from trains and buses. Participants must be able to do this independently (with or without a walking aid). Walking aids welcome.

Tickets are limited and bookings are essential.
