Let’s Planet makes jangly pop with a backbone and they have been doing it for 40 years. Formed by songwriter/guitarist Alan Galloway, with Nigel Clements and Helen Cairney, the group found its true direction when Caroline Easther (The Chills, The Verlaines, and now in The Warratahs) joined with her snap-tight drums and Murray Costello (The Mockers) came in on bass. Pagan Records released Favours, Loving Tongues and La Gloria, where Let’s Planet honed their chiming guitars, close vocal harmonies, melodic basslines, and catchy hooks. They have shared stages with R.E.M., Crowded House, Throwing Muses, The Proclaimers, Split Enz, and Paul Kelly. Reviewers have called their catalogue “thoughtful and polished, moving from breezy guitar numbers to moody indie-rock”, and their earlier material has been collected on Pearlers, a best-of compilation available on Bandcamp.

Alan and Caroline have kept on writing and performing. Now - only 27 years after their last studio album - Let’s Planet is back with a new record! Anything You Want picks up all the right threads again: textured songs, thoughtful arrangements, and the hooks that long-time fans expect and new listeners will be excited to discover.

The album release gig will start 7:30 pm 29 November in St Peter's Hall, Paekakariki with help from Tatiana Sogrina, and Nigel Mitchell from Orangefarm.

Let’s Planet are offering anything you want — and quite possibly something you didn’t know you needed.
