As you're well aware financial literacy is a must for all business owners. It's the foundation of making informed judgments and decisions, so that your clients can lead their business to greater levels of success and profits.

Understanding the financial statements is the key to being able to understand the performance of the business. The financials tell a story, but it's a story book that you need to develop the skills to be able to read and talk about in a language your clients can understand. .
Who it’s for
This is an advanced level workshop intended for experienced bookkeepers who would like to refine their skills in interpreting and talking about the financial statements.
What does the workshop cover?
This workshop focuses on reading and talking about financial statements, and being able to identify and examine the story of your clients business performance. Together we will apply ourselves to a model company to:
- Identify trends in financial statements.
- Calculate key metrics of profitability.
- Explore liquidity ratios and what they mean.
- Practice talking about business performance.
- Link the cash flow to the balance sheet and P&L account.
- Ensure your understanding of accounting underpins how you talk about business with your clients.
Participants will leave this session feeling confident:
- Navigating the whole financial statements.
- Being able to identify trends, linkages and anomalies within the accounts.
- Applying some metrics and ratios to enhance your analytical skills, adding more value for your clients.
- Telling the story of the business' performance through the financial statements.
- Detecting any anomalies and confident in knowing the questions to ask of your client.

In this workshop you will:
- Use a case study to complete a budgeting exercise.
- Consider historic trends and future assumptions to build a budget.
- Explore different approaches to budgeting.
- Discuss potential issues when budgeting.
- Learn how to review and reforecast.

- Understanding the importance of the budget process, budget methodology, key drivers and assumptions.
- Practical tips for improving the budget process with your clients.
- Hands on practice preparing a budget for a model company.
Who it’s for
This is an intermediate level workshop intended for experienced bookkeepers with some budgeting experience who wish to polish up their skills.
The unique Colour Accounting Learning System
These workshops are new and subsequent modules to the Let's Talk Finance workshop that you may have previously participated in. They continue to use the Colour Accounting Learning System as licensed from Wealthvox.
Logistics
These modules will be held on-line. The Zoom link will be sent to you together with handouts prior the sessions.
Online attendees will need to print the materials prior to the workshop commencing as thees materials will be used for the activities.
You will also need a calculator and pen.
