Let's Talk - End of Life Planning

Let’s Talk End of Life Planning is the fifth event in the Let’s Talk series, organised by Sabine Muschter in collaboration with Byron Community Centre and HeyDay Supports.

Drawing on over 25 years of intensive care nursing, Sabine brings this session to life with a deep commitment to helping people have meaningful end-of-life conversations before a crisis occurs. Too often, important decisions are left unspoken and documents unprepared, adding stress at an already difficult time.

 The session brings together leading voices in end-of-life and aged care to share valuable insights into planning ahead, understanding personal affairs documents, and support at the end of life. Join us for an important conversation for anyone wanting clarity, confidence, and peace of mind. 

Zenith Virago, founder of the Natural Death Care Centre, will explain key legal and practical planning in clear, accessible terms, including Advance Health Directives, Enduring Guardianship, Power of Attorney, Wills, and why they are essential for everyone. She will help people understand their options at this stage of life, including a brief overview of Voluntary Assisted Dying so they can make informed decisions at the right time. Sue McGuigan from NSW Health will guide attendees through My Aged Care, Support at Home, and End-of-Life pathways, helping people understand how to access services when they are needed. Peter Devine, CEO of HeyDay Supports, will share insights into the aged care journey and how to find local support as care needs change, whether gradually or unexpectedly.

Following the discussion, attendees can connect with palliative care providers and local services at information tables.
