Level 1 – Functional Foot Mechanics - Rebuilding the Foot — From the Ground to Gait

Most therapists are taught muscles. Maybe a bit of fascia. Occasionally someone gets excited and talks about trigger points.

But almost no one is taught how joints actually move in real life — under load, in 3D, during gait, the movement your clients perform 5,000–10,000 times a day.

This is the foundation many therapists realise they’ve been missing.

Functional Foot Mechanics – Level 1 gives you a practical, hands-on framework to see, feel, and restore real-world foot mechanics so you can stop grinding through soft tissue and start addressing the mechanical patterns that drive stubborn tension, plantar fasciitis, knee pain, hip restrictions, and low-back overload.

This is where your skillset evolves — into understanding how the foot truly functions, how it influences the knee, hip, pelvis, and spine, and how to create immediate, visible changes in the way clients stand, walk, and load their bodies.

You’ll learn:

               •             How the rearfoot and forefoot behave during each phase of gait

               •             How foot mechanics shape knee, hip, pelvic, and spinal function

               •             How closed-chain joint behaviour creates (or solves) persistent pain

               •             How to restore joint motion without brute strength or excessive hands-on force

               •             How to use assessment, joint sequencing, and mobilisation strategies that help you stand out from other therapists — without destroying your hands in the process

This isn’t another “foot strengthening” course.

It’s a movement-based clinical upgrade that expands your toolbox, protects your longevity, and transforms the way you understand—and treat—human movement.

Presenter: Riccardo Galeotti

Riccardo Galeotti is a manual therapist and movement educator with over 18 years of clinical experience blending biomechanics, Classical Chinese medicine, and movement science.

Founder of The Body Lab Canberra and The Body Lab Education, Riccardo teaches practitioners how to see and restore real human motion — connecting what they feel under their hands with what they observe in movement.

His workshops bridge the gap between manual therapy and movement science, offering a practical, evidence-informed system for assessing and restoring function through the kinetic chain.

Riccardo’s approach integrates joint-by-joint assessment, gait analysis, and functional movement retraining to create long-term change in how clients move and feel.

Having taught hundreds of therapists nationally, he continues to lead a growing education platform focused on helping practitioners build tactile precision, clinical reasoning, and confidence through applied biomechanics.

To support your continued learning, Level 2 dates are now live on our website.

Cancellation: If it is deemed that a seminar is not viable, it may be postponed or cancelled by ATMS.
