Saw Piercing Silversmithing Workshop - Level 2 Workshop
Join us for a relaxing and mindful activity while learning the technique of saw piercing to create your own piece of jewellery, with step-by-step instructions and individual guidance along the way.
This workshop will teach you all the steps to design and saw pierce your own creation. You can choose between earrings, a pendant, a wall hanging, or a keyring. Everything is provided at this workshop for you to take your piece home on the day.
WHO'S THE WORKSHOP FOR:
- This is considered a Level 2 Workshop, as the techniques learnt at the Introductory Workshop are again used in this workshop.
- Although, if you have previous jewellery-making experience or feel confident about learning new techniques quickly with little instruction, you are welcome to attend this workshop.
WHAT DO YOU GET:
- A selection of templates to use. (Or see below regarding design)
- Metal of your choosing; Copper, brass or aluminium. Silver will be available at a small additional cost on the day.
- Use of workshop tools
- The use of your own personal bench peg and saw, with a supply of blades and wax for sawing
- Lunch provided; selection of sushi, quiche and charcuterie board.
CLASS OUTLINE:
- The workshop will start with a grounding session to welcome us all into the space.
- Demonstration on how to prepare the metal for saw piercing.
- Learn saw-piercing techniques.
- Lunch Break
- Finishing off the metal jewellery - shaping, filing and polishing.
WORKSHOP PREPARATION
NO PREPARATION: Just turn up, and I will have templates and inspiration ideas available that can be used for your design, for example, trees, leaves, and animal shapes.
OWN DESIGN: Come with your own idea ready to go.
- You can also make your own design; best to go with silhouettes of items that interest you.
- Ideas can be emailed to me, I will make sure that it is doable during the workshop time,
- You can email me with shapes that you'd be interested in, and I can source some ideas and then print them out in varying sizes if required.
PLEASE NOTE:
This is my trial event for the Level 2 workshop; it's for participants interested in coming to another workshop. It will be a little event, with a lunch break and yummy food provided. Get a chance to mingle with like-minded people. This workshop will allow me to work out what designs are practical within the time limit etc.
Please allow longer in the afternoon to complete your piece.
