Level Up 23
Event description
Unlock your creative super power through Level Up!
Level Up is a one-day program providing business owners and event operators with inspiration and ideas to take them to the next level.
This year, Level Up explores how we can recapture the creativity that comes to us naturally as children but can sometimes be lost as we journey through life.
And with the ever-evolving intrusion of AI and market disruptors, it’s never been more important to nurture a culture of creativity.
Alex Wadelton from The Right-brain Workout leads a stellar speaker lineup. Alex will be joined by Dani Pearce, CEO and founder of Merry People gum boots and Nick Pearce, co-founder of streetwear clothing social enterprise HoMie.
And you’ll also hear from the best in all things business events – Business Events Victoria.
After their morning presentations, Alex, Dani and Nick will host small group workshops in the afternoon, which are not to be missed!
Arrival tea and coffee, morning tea and lunch are included.
Workshop places are limited.

– its value, potential for businesses and local visitor economy.
The business events market has changed significantly. With a heightened competitive landscape, the need for industry
understanding and readiness to tap into and engage effectively with this market is now more important than ever.
BEV will share findings and recommendations from a state-wide Venue Capability Audit conducted earlier this year and
the Business Events Toolkits developed to update and upskill operators.
BEV will also be joined by an industry panel who will discuss their expertise and experience in investing in and
transforming their organisation’s ability to attract and deliver business events.
Panel: Adeline Keh (Executive Officer BEV), Jon Watson (Owner Pavilion Warrnambool) Lydia Murnane (GM Lady Bay Resort) Gemma Willocks, (Engagement Executive

HOMIE & MERRYPEOPLE – IN CONVERSATION WITH DANI AND NICK
Nick and Dani Pearce (a city boy & country girl) met whilst they were both starting their respective businesses: one a leading Australian social enterprise, the other, a now internationally-recognised brand. Both HoMie and Merry People emerged from simple ideas & humble beginnings, and during this session, Nick and Dani will interview one another on their respective journeys (the highs, lows & everything in between), as well as all the key learnings they've accrued whilst running their initiatives for nearly a decade. They'll unpack how they got started, the mistakes they've made (and continue to make!), as well as the key pillars that have underpinned their businesses and enabled their sustenance and growth to date. They may also briefly touch on what it's been like both leading companies & starting a family at the same time!
Concurrent Workshops:
WORKSHOP 1: THE RIGHT-BRAINS TRUST with Alex Wadelton (20 places)
A hands-on workshop designed to help select events and businesses level up their results. In this workshop, we will utilise the skills developed in the first two modules to tackle business issues, problems, and/or opportunities facing your organisation.
In this session, participants will:
• Share the things that keep them up at night
• Tackle these issues from new angles
• Use new ways of thinking to come up with innovative solutions
• Have a shed-load of fun along the way
Each member of the workshop will be required to answer a pre-workout questionnaire that will form the backbone of the session. This will set up all for success, by creating a safe space for creative exploration, innovative thinking, and powerful outcomes
WORKSHOP 2: DOING BUSINESS WITH PURPOSE with Nick Pearce (20 places)
How do we embed and elevate social purpose in our work?
Nick will unpack how to turn your organisation values into virtues, and detail how HoMie lives by its four pillars of:
• Impact
• Respect
• Authenticity
• Innovation
The best thing is, every business (big or small) has the capacity to effect change...and it all adds up!
WORKSHOP 3 – BRAND MARKETING AND AWARENESS THE MERRY PEOPLE WAY with Danielle Pearce (20 places)
Join Dani, the CEO and Founder of Merry People for an insightful session into building your brand with learnings from the Merry People journey.
Dani will share with you her tips and tricks to help you:
• Build a brand name
• Establish a brand essence
• Refine a tone of voice for your brand
