Description

The event will involve a guided walk in remnant areas of mallee woodland and EPBC Critically Endangered temperate irongrass grassland. The area is 350mm average rainfall but has had good rains this year and will be showing off many flowering species and some plants rarely seen in region.

The event includes morning tea and a discussion about planned future activities.

Levi Creek Nature Reserves Community Group. Our group is involved in conservation and restoration of 2 Crown Land nature reserves on Levi Creek at Frankton near Dutton and Eudunda. One area adjoining Diagonal Road and second area adjoining Frankton Road.

Total area is 40 hectares with about 200 native species. The reserves had been damaged by vehicles, motorcycles and unauthorised camping over many years.

Restoration has been occurring for 5 years with ripping bared out areas to assist regeneration, signage, planting some local species, rubbish removal and weed control.
