'Levitation' by Psyalux ~ Pop-up Art Exhibition

This pop-up exhibition will be a unique one-day (afternoon/evening) event taking place from 3pm - 9.30pm on Sunday the 26th of October 2025, in the upstairs 'Chapel' of the Take Care Studio (Brunswick East).

We invite all of our (18+) friends in the wider community of artists and art-lovers to be present for a unique blend of creative artistry in respect of the 'Levitation' series. Along with a wide collection of works from Psyalux, this event will present a never before seen amalgamation of artistry, which will enhance an already unforgettable performance by the always mezmerising rope-chemistry of Barefoot Juliette & Hunny.

After some opening remarks at 3.30pm/ 3.45pm, there will be a spread of light snacks & refreshments (grazing nibbles and drinks (juice & wine) to accompany a showcase of local artistry (visual & performative) across the afternoon & early evening. Engage, observe, converse, and enjoy the lovely space and ambience upstairs among other explorers, creatives and like-minded aficionados - and be sure not to miss the main event performance piece commencing at 8pm!

As an artist, it's a gift to be able to offer something truly unique to the wider community who have continued to inspire my own practice... so in advance I offer a warm 'thank you' to all of our guests and contributors for actively helping to build and grow these 'third-spaces' for the arts community to bring people together :) 

EXHIBITION SYNOPSIS:

This series is an aesthetic love-letter to the rope community, to it's ever inspiring practitioners & the intricate beauty woven through their craft. This collection tries to capture the external and internal 'gravity' of experience felt by those explore the psychological & corporeal substance of this niche. In observing the variously ephemeral moments of beauty, suffering & connectedness explored in this practice, Psyalux offers the 'Levitation' series as an exploration of mindful sensualism and the journey of liberation through bondage. This collection draws on a deep appreciation for the otherworldly beauty of suspension-play aesthetics, and the bedrock of trust that allows a uniquely visceral and mental connectedness. This series inteprets such artistry as a demonstration of 'force' being imposed & absorbed in synchronicity, finding an interdependent thread of harmony by vastly divergent paths.

We pride ourselves on hosting safe and supportive third-spaces which put an emphasis on inclusivity, understanding, and kindness. All people attending the event are expected to treat other guests with consideration and respect. Anyone not conducting themselves appropriately with the above-mentioned values may be asked to leave the venue. 

This is an 18+ event - bigotry, predatory behaviour or shaming will not be tolerated.

** One artistic performance will include a flashing/strobe-like lighting potentially presenting a risk to those with photosensitive epilepsy.

*** Unfortunately, this specific gallery/event space is only accessible by navigating to the first floor of the building via a 'non accessibility-assisted' flight of stairs. The exhibition display-needs are entirely unique, and this specific event space appears to be the only viable option in this city which can meet those needs.

Psyalux is a mixed-media visual artist whose work in recent years has centered on representing and connecting the kink community by exhibiting online and at in-person events. By exploring themes of power, vulnerability, sensuality, and liberation, they seek to create space for dialogue, visibility, and recognition for alternative expressions of identity and intimacy.
