    Event description

This ground-breaking, site-specific production will run at Unity of Central Florida on August 30th and 31st @7PM a A panel discussion with local LGTBQ+ and religious leaders will follow.

As LGBTQ+ issues become a more extensive nationwide discussion, Leviticus merges modern queer comedy, provocative drama, and the destruction of the 4th wall to explore themes of queer identity and religion. It poses the question of “What common ground can be found?”

Show Summary: Levi Nolan is a precocious high-school lesbian who has always felt accepted by her liberal Christian denomination. But when she tries to become a youth leader, her beloved mentor cites Old Testament Bible verses preaching abomination and denies Levi the opportunity to move forward, forcing her to re-evaluate everything she believes about herself and her religion.

Written and directed by Orlando native Ciara Hannon, Leviticus uses their real-life experience to explore universal issues happening within many church walls. By opening its doors to this timely play, Unity of Central Florida is also opening up a conversation vital to understanding the crossroads between LGTBQ+ and religious issues.
