LGBTQIA+ 101

Want to better understand what it means to be LGBTQIA+ in 2024? Join educator and LGBTQIA+ advocate delsi and learn how to create safer and more inclusive spaces for the queer people within your world.

What will it involve?

The interactive workshop will deepen your understanding of the LGBTQIA+ lived experience. It will also equip you with skills and strategies to improve your inclusive practice throughout your work and social life.

Who will be facilitating the class?

delsi (she/they) is a qualified Secondary and Adult education teacher and a proud member of the queer community. She is also the owner of the LGBTQIA+ organisation Unicorns, which she developed 11 years ago to address the gap in safe and celebratory spaces for the whole of the community.

Throughout your workshop, delsi incorporates recent Australian research, personal lived experience, anecdotes from her time supporting LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, as well as lots of inclusion strategies – all aimed at empowering you to make a difference.

What will I learn?

• A better understanding of LGBTQIA+ language and definitions. 
• A deeper understanding of the current issues facing members of the queer community.
• Strategies for improving accessibility and inclusion within your workplace, school or social settings.
