WHISE is pleased to deliver a series of webinars on LGBTQ sexual and reproductive health for practitioners and policymakers in health promotion, healthcare provision and health program design and implementation. The series will provide an enhanced understanding of sexual and reproductive health outcomes of people in the LGBTQ community, with a view to improving access to inclusive and equitable health information and services.

LGBTQ women and gender diverse people experience healthcare barriers in receiving accurate diagnosis and timely treatment for a range of sexual and reproductive health conditions. Sexual and reproductive health promotion information also tends to be heteronormative and cis-gendered, with a focus on contraceptive counselling and fertility or infertility. As a result, women and gender diverse people in the LGBTQ community can experience poorer sexual and reproductive health outcomes. Inclusive care and health promotion, with a focus on body parts and sexual practices rather than binary sex, gender and sexuality identities, can support improved health outcomes.

Rachel Cook, Thorne Harbour Health, on self-collection in cervical screening for LGBTQ women and people with a cervix.
