Senator Pratt invites you to the LGBTQIA Virtual Townhall on the Voice. This event will focus on the Voice and its impact on our community. Together, we will delve into the significance of constitutional recognition, highlighting the voices and perspectives of the LGBTQIA community.

We will be joined by Narelda Jacobs OAM as the town hall MC, along with Tony Lee, Jim Morrison and Shane Sturgiss.

Narelda Jacobs OAM is a television presenter and journalist with Network 10 and NITV. She has been a news presenter for 10 News First in Perth since 2008. Narelda is of Whadjuk Noongar heritage.

Tony Lee is the founder of Kimberley Blak Pride, and a Yawuru man.

Jim Morrison is a Minang-Goreng Noongar Elder, a Traditional Custodian of WA’s pristine southern coast who has passed his strong Aboriginal values to following generations of his extended family. He was Patron of Pride WA in 2006 and co-founded Queers for Reconciliation WA, as was initiated in NSW, in the same year to support his work in the LGBTIQ+ community.

Shane Sturgiss is a proud Aboriginal man with family links to Gundungurra and Ngarigo people and a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Shane is the CEO of BlaQ Aboriginal Corporation and has worked across several Aboriginal services, including the Director of Operations at The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence.

This is an opportunity for our community to come together, learn, and engage in a constructive conversation about the Voice Referendum and its potential impact.The voice was a key ask from the Uluru Statement from the Heart which was an invitation to all Australians to recognise the ancestral ties that have existed for over 60,000 years and empower all First Nations people to have a Voice in their future.We are wholeheartedly accepting the invitation and would like to invite you to join us to walk together towards this historic reform.
