LHJ Seminar: Research Practices - Engaging and Partnering with External Organisations
Event description
Working with non-academic partners is central to many peopleâs research practices. This is particularly the case where researchers seek to inform or provoke positive social change. Such practices are captured by the idea of âconnectednessâ in the UTS Research Strategy. As one of the eight pillars in the strategy it refers to how âwe communicate, connect and collaborate with each other, our academic, community, industry and government partners and the world at large to bring together diverse capabilities and expertise.â
Join us for a Law Health Justice Research Practices seminar to learn more about connecting and working with external partner organisations.Â
The panel event features:
Dr David Carter, Senior Lecturer | National Health and Medical Research Council Early Career Fellow
Faculty of Law | The Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation, UTS Business School
David leads a programme of research on the legal and health needs of people living with blood borne infections. This research involves extensive engagement and partnerships with service delivery and advocacy organisations. David will share insights on establishing and nurturing connected research.
Carrie Fowlie, CEO Hepatitis Australia
Carrie has almost two decades of peak body experience that has involved collaboration with university researchers and advocacy work with elected officials and their offices, in parliaments, at the United Nations, and with government officials. Carrie will offer practical suggestions for what to do and not to do as a researcher seeking to collaborate with external partner organisations.
Dianne Moy, UTS Centre for Social Justice & Inclusion
Dianne is a community engagement and program development professional, specialising in collaborative and participatory methodologies. Dianne has a Master of Design (Research) and grounds her work in placemaking techniques and community-led design â enabling community members to have a voice and partner in engagement and decision-making processes.
We very much welcome Higher Degree Research students to join us for this seminar.
In-person attendees are strongly encouraged to wear a mask during the seminar.
Afternoon tea will be provided.
