Space Cast presents ‘Lifting, sinking’, a sound immersion and somatic meditation featuring dj and producer Billus, and multidisciplinary artist and somatic therapist, Shannon May Powell.

Billus is a dj and producer whose sonic output is energetically dynamic and versatile in scope, with a gift for curating immersive and ambient soundscapes that transport you to a deeper, quieter place. Paired with Billus’ two hour sound immersion we have Shannon May Powell, a multidisciplinary artist and creative shapeshifter exploring the intersections of sound, movement and words into soulful, embodied practice. Shannon will be guiding us through a somatic meditation into, and out of, the sound immersion.

Somatic relates to the body and the physical experience of sensations, feelings, or movements. Somatic meditation is a way to deepen our awareness of the relationship between body, emotions, thoughts, and our environment.

We are so pleased to have these two artists contribute in their respective fields to aid in a deep, immersive and restorative event at Tender, Brunswick's new home of movement, mind and sound.

Similar to Tender’s ‘Deep Listening Sessions’, this event is intended to be a quiet, immersive and meditative space and experience, so we gently ask that you refrain from conversations in the yoga space for the duration of the event.

We do however acknowledge that conversation is an important way to connect with community and process experiences, so if you need to chat, please do so in the lounge areas next to the bar, or near the entrance and keep it to a low level during Sam and Shannon’s contributions, or alternatively there is time before and after the event to connect with friends.

4:30 - 5:00 Doors open for entry, grab a drink and grab a comfortable spot in the yoga space.

5:00 - 7:00 Sound immersion and somatic meditation.

7:00 - 7:30 Closure, debrief and goodbyes.

Billus’ sound immersion will run for two hours with a 10-15 minute somatic meditation from Shannon May Powell at the start and end of the set to guide us in and out of the session.

Please bring along your own pillows and feel free to re-adjust as you need throughout the session to make yourself comfortable in the space.

This is intended to be a restorative event so will be alcohol free. A selection of delicious alcohol free beverages will be available at the bar to purchase during the event.

Tender is located on 535 Sydney Road in Brunswick. Our main entry is at the rear of the studio via the blue stone laneway next to 38 Ovens St - please note there is no parking available at the studio, there is a parking lot located on the corner of Breese and Hope St (map below). Bicycle parking can be found on Ovens St, Sydney Road or Hope St.

We have ramp access via Sydney Rd entry, please get in touch if you have any access needs. Tram route 19 services Sydney Road and the nearest train station is Brunswick Station (500m).
