Did you know your love of orchids on social media could be putting them at risk of extinction?

A recent scientific publication, Liked to death: the impacts of social media and photography on biodiversity, reveals how social media exposure is threatening some of Australia's most delicate orchid species — attracting well-meaning nature lovers to sensitive sites in numbers they simply can't survive.

Join Dr Belinda Davis (Kings Park Science) and Dr Magali Wright (Landscape Recovery Foundation, Tasmania) for an evening talk unpacking this fascinating and urgent issue with their personal experience working with orchids. Discover what you can minimise your impact on orchids and help protect them while still enjoying them in the wild.

This event is supported by Inspiring WA and National Science Week.
