Description

Living with ADHD can be exhausting.

Constantly trying harder.

Wondering why things that seem simple for other people can feel so difficult.

Liminal is a workshop designed to help make sense of that experience — and to help you discover practical ways forward.

This isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about working with how you’re wired.

You’ll leave with:

  • a clearer understanding of why your ADHD works the way it does

  • practical strategies you can begin using immediately

  • hope that life can become easier

Rather than leaving with another list of things you "should" do, you'll leave with one or two small experiments that fit your own life.

What we'll explore

  • ADHD: why it works the way it does, and why life can feel so much harder than it should.

  • Emotional regulation: sometimes one of the hardest (and most overlooked) parts of ADHD.

  • Executive functioning: why starting, planning, remembering, and following through can be so difficult.

  • Dopamine: motivation, energy, and why "just try harder" rarely works.

  • Tiny Habits®: a simple, practical way to begin making lasting changes.

Who is this for?

This workshop is best suited to adults (16+) who already have some understanding of ADHD — whether diagnosed, self-identified, exploring or supporting someone in your whanau.

However, anyone is welcome.

Come as you are.
You don't need to have everything sorted.
Just bring your curiosity.

Presenter: Derek Chirnside

Over the past twenty years I've listened to many of adults describe what ADHD feels like from the inside. Again and again I hear similar themes: exhaustion, overwhelm, shame, creativity, humour, resilience, and the longing to simply make life work a little better. Also, timeblindness and hyperfocus!

This workshop grew out of those conversations.

I'm based in Christchurch. I've worked as a classroom teacher, teacher educator (including training teachers to support students with ADHD), university chaplain, and business owner. I'm a long-time ADHD educator with a particular focus on practical, sustainable strategies that help adults live well with ADHD. More information on website
