In partnership with Brimbank Learning Futures, Linked IRL is a networking event for young people aged 16-25 years who live, work, study, or recreate in the City of Brimbank, DESIGNED by young people.

This month, our youth co-design committee has decided on the theme CAREERS IN BEAUTY. Hear from real people working in the rapidly expanding beauty industry: what does a job in beauty really look like behind the influencer's lens? Meet other young people who might end up being your future co-workers — or come along to learn all about the successes and challenges of the sector.

SPEAKERS

Andrea Day

Andrea is the Team Leader in Beauty at VU Polytechnic and is passionate about teaching the next generation of beauty therapists. Originally studying to become a psychologist, Andrea discovered the beauty therapist career and put psychology on hold. She worked at a number of salons and spas in Melbourne, lived and worked in London in a salon for two years, with 13 beauty therapists from 13 different countries. Andrea also worked on a beauty textbook, Professional Beauty Therapy, an adaptation from the UK version to the Australian training package.

Blessing Simango (MISHKA Beauty & Co)

MISHKA Beauty & Co was founded in 2022 with a vision to cater treatments for all skin types and shades. At MISHKA Beauty & Co, they understand that each individual has unique skin concerns. They are dedicated in providing tailored skin management services tailored for those specific needs. They offer various services including skin needling, vitamin c infusions, rejuvenating facials and radiation products.
