Lino Printmaking on the Karra Wirra Pari (For ages 12-15)
Event description
Do you know a child or young person (aged 12-15) who loves to connect with nature and express themselves in artistic and creative ways? Who enjoys rolling up their sleeves for tactile, hands-on activities? This school-holiday workshop is for them!
Participants will begin with a guided nature-connection experience on the banks of the beautiful Karra Wirra Pari (River Torrens), a stones throw away from Ripples Art Shed. With pencil and paper in hand, they will partake in an observation based art experience, where they will sketch and/or write in response to open-ended artistic prompts related to the nature festival theme 'Nature as Home'.
Fuelled with ideas and connections, they will then move into the printmaking workshop in Ripples Art Shed. Here they will be guided through the process of designing an image, carving it into a lino block and then printing it manually with a hand-operated printing press.
The workshop will be facilitated by Camille Jenkinson. Camille is the founder of Wild Craft Studio and a registered school teacher with 5 years of experience as a Visual Art Educator. Prior to school teaching, Camille worked as an Environmental Educator. Rest assured, your young artist will be engaged, inspired and well looked after in this 2 1/2 hours of nature connection and art creation. What's more, they will leave with a couple of beautiful prints and new skills that they can be very proud of.
The one-off class will be capped at 10 participants, so if your young artist is interested, don't hesitate to book in or reach out for more information.
Can't wait to see your young artist there!
