Event description

Liquid Lyrics, where the Sunshine Coast's whispers and wonders converge, returns to serenade your soul with an evening of poetry, music, and heartfelt connection.

Theme: ACTIVATE

What does it take to activate something inside you?

A word, a rhythm, a voice that cracks the air open.

This month’s slam is about ignition — that spark that moves you from silence to speech, from thought to action. Bring the words that have been waiting, the stories that demand fire.

Nick and Cait are back to hold the space — not just for poets, but for anyone ready to step up, speak out, and set the stage alight.

Whether you’re spitting your truth or soaking it in from the crowd, this is your night to be switched on.

Come curious. Come loud. Come ready to activate.

Guest Performer.

Jesse Higgins is an Australian singer-songwriter, environmental educator, storyteller, and performing artist whose music channels the spirit of the land, ancestry, and human connection. His work blends folk, Celtic melodies, and earthy acoustic tones with themes of rewilding, activation, belonging, and love.

Raised on the Sunshine Coast, Jesse has carved a path as a prolific live performer, bringing his music to markets, festivals, and venues across Queensland and beyond. His performances are raw yet polished, often combining guitar, stomp, harmonica, hand drum, and didgeridoo to create a sound that is both soulful and energising. Jesse returned to the music scene in July 2025 after a five-month setback from a marine injury. His resolve upon returning is simple but powerful: “The world is your oyster.”

In August 2025, Jesse released his single Tassie Tiger — a protest song that is “blowing the horn” for stronger conservation management and reminding us of what the old trees once witnessed. The track marks the beginning of his upcoming body of work, including the much-anticipated Neo Native album.

At once a troubadour, craftsman, and visionary, Jesse Higgins is building a body of work that is as much about community and culture as it is about music — an artist committed to leaving audiences moved, uplifted, and re-enchanted with the world around them and what it could be.
