Liquid Lyrics "Passionate Perspectives"

###Liquid Lyrics has partnered up with the Australian Poetry Slam 2024 to make this event a heat for the QLD final in Brisbane for a chance to make it to the nationals in Sydney###

Slight changes to the rules and judging

Two minute limit. Timer starts at your first word or when the timekeeper feels your performance has begun (no additional time for introductions). Points will be deducted from the final score for exceeding the time limit — one point for going over time and an extra point every 30 seconds beyond that. For example: at 2:01 minutes you will lose a point; at 2:31 minutes you will lose another point.

-Five judges chosen by the host at random from the audience.

-Judges hold up score cards using a 1–10 scale to one decimal place, with 10 being the highest. Of the five scores for each poet, only the middle three scores are counted.

-Poems must be the original work of the performer.

-No musical accompaniment. No props. No costumes. Personal poem transcripts permitted.

-The performer(s) with the highest scores in each heat will proceed to their State, Territory or Regional Final.

-Writers must perform a new piece at each progressive level/round starting from heats, to State/Territory Finals, to the National Final.(Poems may be repeated in a slam off.)

2024 works can not have been performed in an Australian Poetry Slam event in a previous year.

*3 minutes/ timer starts on the first word

1 point deducted for every minute over

* Judges chosen randomly in the crowd

* must be original work written within the last 12 months

Jamie Mc Avinue, an up and coming spoken word artist and electronic music fanatic. With a thirst for the craft of language manipulation and nearly 10 years of music making passion. This music poetry hybrid set is an amalgamation of electronic and language and the creative expression of Jamies mind. Taking the essence of dance floor driven electronic music and slowing it down to allow space for the spoken word to come through. Listen and feel the music and the words which will be touching on life and existence, love and substance. WARNING you may want to move your body.

There will be Vegan Thai Curry with Rice and cucumber mint salad, chai and kaffa lime, coconut and candied ginger bliss balls available for purchase on the night.
