Event description

The Little Big Bang - Northern Rivers

Durrumbul Hall

April 1st 7 pm

Epic night of full powered dance!!

Dance Performance and Music to Dance to!

Featuring Master Drummer BANGOURA KE

From Guinea, West Africa, Bangoura Ke (Bk) is arguably the hottest djembe player in Australia. In Guinea he is described as the Lion of Matam, with Hands of Fire. His sound and speed must be witnessed first hand to be believed. And the smile on his dial is as wide as a mile! The man breathes love!

SPANKINHIDE

The very existence of Spankinhide is to fuel the fire of dance. Rich rhythms, driving doundoun melodies, crack and boom to fill the room! This Little Big Bang we have the full team. If you find you're not dancing, might be wise to check your pulse - you may be dead!

SALVE JORGE

Fresh back in the Shire from a revitalising and inspiring journey back to his motherland of Brazil, Jorge will bring a DJ set of grace, depth, diversity, colour and magic.

ZORMIWASA and AFRICAN DANCE BYRON BAY

EPIC!! No other word quite covers this performance. Some 25 drummers have been learning VAKURU, dance of the ancestors, with ELLIOTT ORR. Complete with a massive 'Introduction', 'Bridge', two sections, solos and a song Vakuru will leave you spellbound. Many of Elliott's most dedicated students in Brizvagueness will be joining the performance. Some of these cats have been playing with Elliott for 1, 2 even almost 3 decades!

...but wait, there's more! Zormiwasa will be joined by the dancers from African Dance Byron Bay. VANESSA SMITH has been cultivating and choreographing a beautiful African dance to the same rhythm, Vakuru, and so some 10-20 dancers will be bringing graceful and dynamic movement to the massive rhythm of Zormiwasa.

This is the very essence of community! So many beautiful souls bringing their love of rhythm and dance into a collective moment of connection and expression.

Come early to witness this true magic!

Sound seen in a sound scene!
