Event description

Uncover the world of chemical reactions by exploring different substances and make a mess experimenting with carbon dioxide.

Discover chemistry in everyday life, handle ‘dangerous materials’, make a mess while experimenting with carbon dioxide and explore the properties of white substances. Learn how children’s language development can be enhanced through STEM inquiry.

This STEM learning opportunity will help you:

  • learn about the shared principles of language development and STEM inquiry
  • understand the potential of STEM inquiry for language development
  • discover the chemistry in everyday life
  • engage in chemical experimentation by exploring substances and making a mess with carbon dioxide
  • benefit from the exchange with like-minded educators and reflect on your current practice
  • feel confident in unlocking the wonders of STEM

You will also receive comprehensive materials with lots of STEM ideas and information about inquiry-based practices.

Topic learning objectives

  • Supporting language development through STEM inquiry
  • Awareness of age-appropriate learning opportunities in the area of chemistry
  • Recognising and exploring everyday chemistry in early childhood education

Don’t forget to register early as registrations for our workshops close 24 hours before the event commences.

Good to know: This workshop provides educators and teachers with a variety of tools and educational concepts to meet a range of requirements of the NQF and the EYLF. In NSW and ACT, this workshop may contribute 5 hours of NESA Elective Professional Development.

Parking: Parking is available within the vicinity of the venue

Cost: $215 per participant. Ticket cost includes morning and afternoon tea. Please BYO lunch.

Who? This workshop is suitable for all educators and teachers and prior STEM knowledge is not required.
