Live Music: Global Heat - La Gati ft. Yacou Mbaye & Dovy Dovy

La Gati brings a high-energy collision of electronic sound, live musicianship and global rhythm to FunHaus Factory. 

Led by singer, songwriter, keyboardist and musical director La Gati — the artistic alias of Patricia Alvarez — the performance travels through Latin, Afro-Latin, African and Caribbean influences, weaving live vocals and synthesisers through electronic grooves built for the dancefloor. 

Joining La Gati is Yacou Mbaye, a master Senegalese percussionist born into a griot family and a long lineage of musicians and dancers. Performing since the age of six, Yacou brings the extraordinary rhythmic language of Sabar, Talking Drum, Djembe and West African percussion to the stage. His international performance history includes work alongside African greats including Salif Keita, Angélique Kidjo, Alpha Blondy, Toumani Diabaté and Rokia Traoré. 

Completing the lineup is Sierra Leone-born, Sydney-based Dovy Dovy — DJ, rapper, recording artist and songwriter. A member of acclaimed Sierra Leonean group Bajah + The Dry Eye Crew, Dovy brings decades of performance experience and a potent mix of hip-hop, reggae, dancehall and West African energy, moving seamlessly between the decks and the mic. 

Together, these three artists create a meeting point between Latin and African traditions, contemporary electronic music, live percussion, rap, vocals and synthesisers. 

Led by the feminine and feline energy of La Gati, this is global music made for movement — ancestral rhythms meeting electronic heat on the dancefloor.
