Live Music Latihan

Sink into the holy, delicious darkness of winter, of rest, of the letting go that is necessary at this time of year.

The Solstice is the still point of the year, the pause between the exhale and the inhale. It's a beautiful threshold for releasing what's complete and listening, in the dark, for what wants to come next. In the depth of winter, nature isn't striving. It's composting, dreaming, gathering its energy beneath the surface. We get to do the same.

We’ve invited incredible musicians Jade Fusco and Sam Bottner to weave a live soundscape while we surrender into slowness, movement and the beauty of the mystery. This is our second collaboration with these two and the first one blew our MINDS!! We’re so excited to do it again with you.

Latihan is a blindfolded movement meditation in which we close our eyes and open to inner wisdom and the medicine of the mystery.

We wear blindfolds as a symbol of stepping into the unknown, though the truth is that every moment of our lives is an unfolding of the unknown.

We do this to practice:

✨ Embracing the mystery that is life

✨ S l o w i n g down + getting present

✨ Releasing attachment, aversion, + agenda

✨ Letting go of DOING in exchange for BEING

✨ Stepping outside of the identities that keep us stuck

✨ Exploring touch + learning to attune to others without the use of sight

✨ Noticing + communicating our boundaries

✨ Expressing our emotions

✨ Using ALL experiences (including triggers + uncomfortable moments) as material for expansion + self empowerment 

Latihan is sensual, embodied, contemplative and can actually be quite psychedelic (no substances necessary). We love how it offers a never ending and ever shifting kaleidoscope of lessons and exploration.

When you really GET this practice it supports you to ride the wild ride of life with more delight and less resistance. Yes please. 

While contact is not the point of Latihan, this experience can and does involve touch while blindfolded. Part of the exploration of Latihan is finding your YES and your NO, and taking full responsibility for communicating your boundaries at all times. Please know that this is an advanced level practice.

Flow of the evening:

6:45 to 7:15pm ~ Doors open. Arrive and mingle. Ground in with movement to help get you out of your head and in to your body

7:15pm ~ Doors lock. Be on time!! We WILL lock the doors at this time. Opening + introduction to Latihan 

7:45pm ~ Begin Latihan

9:15pm ~ Sharing circle and closing

9:30pm ~ We close for the evening

What to bring: 

• Clothes you can move in (like what you would wear to a yoga or dance class)

• Knee pads (not a necessity but can be nice)

• A hair tie or scrunchie if you have long hair

• A water bottle

• Blindfolds will be provided but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer
