LIVE MUSIC: RICHARD CHICKEN + KIRSTY BOLTON
Event description
This Sonic Sunday we present an arvo of women in music featuring Richard Chicken + Kirsty Bolton
Richard Chicken - Indie/Rock
Richard Chicken are a Sydney based drum, bass, loop pedal and vocal duo formed by power couple Jazz (bass, vocals) and Maddie Paton (drums).
With catchy bass lines, unique looping, groovy drum beats and lyrics that are sure to stop you in your tracks, Richard Chicken pack a punch you don’t want to dodge.
Kirsty Bolton - Blues jazz folk Americana
Kirsty has been playing her original blues-jazz-folk infused tunes around the cosy cafes and wine bars of Australia for the past decade.
Kirsty’s style has been compared to artists such as Billie Holiday and Fiona Apple, and with just guitar and voice, she gives an intimate stripped back performance. With her voice “like honey” and her quirky guitar-playing style, Kirsty engages her listeners with lyrics that always tell a story, at times rocking and upbeat, at others tragic, thought-provoking and melancholy.
A prolific songwriter and music producer, Kirsty has performed at venues and events around the country, including at Bluesfest, where she was a semi-finalist in the Bluesfest Busking Competition.
Some recent highlights have been opening the stage at the Patonga Blues Across the Bay Festival, and supporting renowned country artist Amber Lawrence, on her “Living For The Highlights” album tour.
