Live podcast recording for NAIDOC, with Strong Brother, Strong Sister
Event description
NAIDOC Week (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee) is held each July to celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
In 2025, NAIDOC Week will be marked from Sunday 6 July to Sunday 13 July, with the theme ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy.’
To acknowledge this year’s theme, Surf Coast Shire will support a live podcast recording by Strong Brother, Strong Sister on Saturday 12 July, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm at the Australian National Surf Museum.
Strong Brother, Strong Sister is a Wadawurrung-based organisation that provides a culturally safe and empowering environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. As part of their ongoing work, they produce a weekly podcast that features open and honest discussions about First Nations issues, lived experiences, and actions to create meaningful change.
The live recording will take the form of a panel discussion featuring First Nations voices from Strong Brother, Strong Sister, alongside local First Nations leaders. The conversation will explore the 2025 NAIDOC theme and consider how the Surf Coast community can listen, learn, and actively support First Nations people.
