Livestock 2024 is the third biennial conference delivered by SALRC, with a theme this year of “environmental challenges and opportunities for Australian livestock industries”. A copy of the full program is available for download.

Outcomes sought include:

  • Identification of key practical, and scientifically credible, components of environmental sustainability on Australian livestock farms and throughout the meat supply chain
  • Research, development, extension and adoption needed to verify sustainability targets, their impacts on productivity and establishment of credible monitoring and reporting processes to meet the needs of both producers and red meat customers
  • Understanding the economic impacts, on farm and in our markets for meat, of implementing sustainability best practice to meet community and market expectations
  • Identify the training and advisory/support services needed by livestock producers to implement sustainability best practice and monitor outcomes.

BarenBrug Howlong Research Site Visit

As a proud partner of the Livestock 2024 Conference, Barenbrug invites conference participants to attend a site visit at their Howlong Research Farm following the conference from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Thursday 22 August. The tour will showcase key sustainability and plant productivity research Barenbrug are undertaking, linked closely with the conference theme environmental challenges and opportunities in our livestock industries. Note: The cost for the site visit is included with your conference ticket, if you are wanting to join this site visit please ensure you select the additional ticket at checkout. Places are limited for the Howlong Research Site Visit.


Young Professional Scholarship Program

SALRC is proud to once again be supporting young producers, researchers and extension professionals across the southern Australian livestock industries to attend their biennial Livestock 2024 Conference through the Young Professional Scholarship program.  The scholarships aim to assist young professionals in covering associated conference costs (conference registration, accommodation and some travel) and increasing networking opportunities.
