Livestream at CERI | MIT Professor Donald Sadoway
Event description
CERI Speaker Series
Professor Donald Sadoway - Extreme Electrochemistry and the Decarbonisation of Manufacturing
In this engaging session livestreamed from the US, Professor Donald Sadoway will challenge us to ask audacious questions and imagine the unimaginable. An emeritus professor of materials chemistry from MIT, Donald Sadoway is a co-founder of deep technology startups Ambri and Boston Metal. Ambri is a liquid metal battery company which has attracted over $200m in funding. Boston Metal has invented an emissions free method of steel production using molten oxide electrolysis.Â
With the support of Schmidt Futures, Professor Sadoway recently established the Sadoway Labs Foundation where he encourages a team of researchers to use his unique approach to extreme electrochemistry to help to tackle climate change mitigation challenges. Professor Sadoway's metals recovery work could have profound implications for Western Australia, potentially allowing for emissions-free, direct metal extraction from ores using electrolysis.
Tuesday 27 February - 7am - 8.30am
Light breakfast will be provided.
