Gympie & surrounds workshop - Collaborative land ownership
Event description
Does the cost of housing bother you and the sense of feeling alone in your community lead you to question whether there is another way?
Collaborative housing and land ownership might be the answer
There is a growing movement in Australia for people to have a go at buying land together to build a better life. Along the way it is possible to get to know neighbours again, help each other, share some resources, improve the local environment and find many ways to save money too.Â
Here in Australia we have some great examples of Ecovillages and cohousing communities such as Narara Ecovillage, Crystal Waters Permaculture Village, Currumbin Ecovillage, and Christie Walk. We can learn a lot from them about how to live collaboratively.
It may seem as easy as getting a bunch of people to put money in together and it will just pan out.Â
Well...no.
Your host Jason Hilder says 'It takes time, a process and commitment yet it is well worth it'.
Jason has researched intentional community living arrangements across Australia and Europe during his PhD at the University of Queensland to understand what works and what doesn't.
And it is not all about theory as he has the experience of collaborate living by being a cofounder of three urban co-living households, lived in four rural communities including Crystal Waters Permaculture Village where he currently resides and is an active community member.Â
In his workshops Jason also draws upon the tools of the Global Ecovillage Network Australia of which he is a coordinating member and affiliated consultant.Â
He brings his facilitation experience from numerous community gatherings , group projects and corporate environments. You can find out more about Jason at his website and LinkedIn.
In partnership with Dan Vanderhoek who is showcasing Eco convos, they have the intention to help people reach their dream of creating their own collaborative community in the Gympie region and beyond.
The workshop
This one day workshop will cover the steps to create a collaborative community and practice some of the processes necessary to help individuals and groups achieve their dream.Â
