Living Rivers: Connecting with Birrarung
Event description
Join this online event to delve into the significance of recognising Birrarung (Yarra River) as a living entity.
PhD researcher Christina Renowden invites you to explore how legal frameworks are creating space for change - through reflection, relationship-building and accessible tools we can all use to deepen our connection with Birrarung. Our research considers what it means to see, understand and care for Birrarung not just as a waterway, but as a living being. This is a chance to engage with and contribute to this meaningful research.
In the spirit of Burndap Birrarung Burndap Umarkoo – “What is good for the Yarra is good for all” – come along to find out how you can share your story as part of Christina's research, and reflect on our shared responsibilities to this vital river.
Please Note: Here is the Zoom Link to join LINK HERE. Participants will also be emailed the day before the event.

Acknowledgement of Country
The Yarra Riverkeeper Association acknowledges that the lands and waterways of the Yarra, Birrarung catchment, are the unceded territories of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung and Bunurong peoples. We pay respect to Traditional Owners, who have, and continue, to care for Country. We acknowledge that the river now called Yarra has always been known as the Birrarung by its custodians.
