Living the Change: A Film Screening + Fireside Discussion
Event description
Join Climathon Waikato, Impact Hub Waikato, and YWCA Hamilton, for a cosy evening featuring a screening of the Kiwi documentary, Living the Change, and a fireside discussion exploring how we can all take small actions to live more sustainably.
Produced in 2018, Living the Change brings together stories from across Aotearoa of everyday people who have pioneered change in their own lives and communities to address the global crises we face today. From forest gardens to composting toilets, and community-supported agriculture to time banking, Living the Change offers ways we can rethink our approach to how we live.
After enjoying a screening of this powerful film (complete with free popcorn and drinks), we'll be joined by a panel of inspiring people from across the Waikato, who will showcase the ways that they are "living the change" and championing a more sustainable future through their actions.
Emma Sinclair (sustainable foodie, climate activist, storyteller, and believer in the power of great conversation) will facilitate the discussions, alongside panelists:
- Hayley James (Digital Coordinator at Seed Waikato with a passion for sustainable fashion)
- Ashleigh Ngow (policy advisor at the Waikato Regional Council, Go Eco board member, recent Bachelor of Environmental Planning, and former sustainability coordinator at Te Whatū Ora Waikato)
- (with more to be announced ...)
We welcome those of all ages, cultural backgrounds and genders to join us. From seasoned climate activists to those who just want to learn more about sustainability, there's something for everyone to learn and enjoy.
This event is being held in the lead-up to Climathon Waikato - a hackathon-style event designed to help you to use your skills to advance climate solutions, rethink the way we live, and create a future you're proud to pass on to the next generation. Supported by Trust Waikato, The University of Waikato, Hamilton City Council, and Waikato Plan.
